I fell down a deep rabbit hole guys. I began writing a simple little story about a face to face meeting between the only mortal Gorgon - our girl Medusa and her first cousin once removed, Athena.
As I went through my notes. Something just didn't sit right with me, specifically that Athena - the Virginal Goddess of War and Industry would curse one of her own priestesses as punishment for the audacity of being raped while under Her employ - by Athena's own uncle no less? I began looking at Athena's relationship to the Gorgon's and unravelled a thread that led me to Lake Tritonis, in Libya. There we find a queen bearing the name of Medusa, the Aegis and the loyalty of an army of women warriors who carved out a small corner of history - and stamped her name on it.
The research torpedoed my short story but produced a new one - wrapped in the guise of a rescued illuminated manuscript with intergenerational marginalia and added sections (Still WIP, please enjoy the short video above)
