Public domain removes gatekeeping.
These works belong to the commons.
Mesopotamian epics.
Norse prophecy.
Taoist paradox.
Gnostic fragments.
Greek philosophy.
They are available freely, if you know where to look for them.
At first, I downloaded them the way I once hoarded paper.
Then I began using them.
For citations.
For study.
For pulling quotes.
For fortifying my own writing.
Eventually, I began building my own ebooks with modest HTML and CSS skills assembling fragments into something usable.
Slowly, in the margins of life, during the quiet hours before dawn, between full-time work and full-time responsibility the idea expanded:
